皆様、アフリカに生息する野生のアフリカ象と動物園にいるアフリカ象の平均寿命は
それぞれ何歳でしょう？

野生の世界は厳しく24時間365日天敵から身を守ります。
The wild world strictly defends itself against natural enemies 24/7.
食糧や水は自分で調達。
Food and water are raised by yourself.
蓄えることもできません。
It can not be stored.
一方動物園の象は毎日食糧、衛生状態に恵まれた環境の中で守られています。
Meanwhile, elephants in the zoo are protected in an environment rich in food and sanitation every day.
ここまでわざわざ解説を入れますと、守られている守られていない以外の要因があることは
想定内でしょう。
If you purposely put in the commentary so far, it will be assumed that there are factors other than protected and not protected.
そうなのです。
That is right.
野生のアフリカ象の平均寿命が56歳であるのに対し、動物園のアフリカ象はたったの17歳。
The average life span of wild African elephants is 56 years, while the African elephants in the zoo are only 17 years old.
先日セミナーを受けた先生から紹介された、「選択日記」（コロンビア大学ビジネススクール教授
シーナ・アイエンガー著）に記されておりました。
It was written in "Selection Diary" (written by Sheena Iyengar, Business School, Columbia University), which was introduced by a teacher who received the seminar the other day.
この差は「選択」できるできないとういう意識が健康に影響をもたらすという事実を物語っています。
This difference reflects the fact that awareness that you can not "Choice" can affect your health.
そして、アイエンガーは人間も同じであり、ある調査で、最も高い職業階級層の公務員が心臓病で
死亡する確率は、最も低い職業層の公務員の僅か三分の一だったと言っています。
And Iyengar says that the same is true for humans, and in one study, the probability of death for the highest working class civil servant for heart disease was only one third of that of the lowest occupation public servant.
これは職業階層が高いほど「自己決定権」、つまり自分の仕事を自分で決める権利が大きいことと
関係がありました。
This was related to the fact that the higher the job class, the more "self-determination", the greater the right to decide one's own work.
これを読んだとき、モンテッソーリ教育理念と重なりました。
When I read this, I overlapped with the Montessori educational philosophy.
自分でお仕事を選ぶ自由、いくらでも気が済むまでお仕事とかかわる自由、自由が保障されたなかで
子どもたちは伸び伸びと自己教育力を発揮します。
With freedom to choose your own work, freedom to engage with work to the fullest, freedom is guaranteed, children demonstrate their growth and self-education ability.
自分で課題を見つけ、その課題解決に向かう力はアクティヴラーニングで培われます。
The ability to find an issue yourself and work towards solving the issue is fostered in Active Learning.
「自主性」、「主体性」と「選択の自由」は深い関係にあるものだと思いました。
I thought that "Independence", "Subjectivity" and "Freedom of choice" are in a deep relationship.
新しい期を迎え、「子ども一人ひとりに敬意の払い、子どもの自由を保障する。」という
基本理念にひとたび立ち返り子どもたちの成長を見守りたいと思います。
In the new period, I would like to watch once in a while the basic philosophy of "paying each child a respect, guaranteeing the freedom of the child."
